Biography

Jennifer McDaniel

Since 2008, Jennifer McDaniel has served on the Washougal City Council, where she currently serves on the Finance Committee. She is deeply involved in the Clark County community, also serving on the Washougal Schools Foundation, as co-chair of the Clark College Business Advisory Board, the Washougal Arts & Cultural Alliance, and the Meals On Wheels Steering Committee.

Born in New Orleans and raised in Houston, Jennifer and her family moved to Washougal in 2005. She currently works as Branch Office Administrator for Edward Jones in Washougal, and her husband, Lance, is a Network Integration Specialist with a local energy company. Their two children (Alex, 18 and Shannon, 14) attend Washougal schools.

Jennifer joined the Washougal City Council in order to make an active, meaningful difference in the place she calls home. During her time on city council, she has worked with her colleagues to:

  • Prioritize yearly budgets and cut spending to weather the recession

  • Support keeping property & sales tax rates low

  • Keep sidewalk and street improvements a top priority

  • Support creation of the Camas-Washougal Economic Development Association which brings businesses and jobs

  • Increase transparency and improve communication with citizens through city website upgrades & social media

  • Consolidate Washougal and Camas Fire Departments, controlling expenses & maintaining quality emergency services

  • Implement a Quiet Zone Ordinance limiting train noise, and increasing public safety at rail crossings

  • Sponsor E-Verify Ordinance, ensuring that city contractors employ legal US citizens

  • Initiate LED Street light replacement project

  • Implement major water and sewer capital projects including upgrades and expansion

  • The Washougal Waterfront project development, parks and trails
  • Advocate each year for funding for the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society.
